Rogue Birds — About the Band

The Rogue Birds is a trio — guitar, cello, and drums. We perform mostly original compositions. We bring diverse musical interest and influences, but we all agree on the genius of Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Neil Young, Alajandro Escovedo, and The EELS.

Rogue Birds

Duffy Gardner is the driving force behind the trio. He writes, sings, plays guitar, sets up our mics and essentially manages us. Carl Witke is our straight man. He plays cello, some guitar and sings. He brings a quiet sort of class to our project. Bo Muller-Moore is the class clown. He plays some drums and shakers and sings sometimes, if the spirit moves him or if he's had enough to drink.

We play some covers but mainly we play Duffy's originals. His tunes are often spiritual, but not religious. People have said we can sound like: Morphine/Neil Young, but most folks think we have a unique sound. We are more passionate than precise, more punk than prog, more drunk than gospel.
